MINIMISE
Mansewood is shortly to undergo a facelift! Funds from Glasgow City Council & Glasgow Housing Association (Wider Action & Greenspace Neighbourhood Quality Improvement Fund) will enable an extension to the site (20 more plots) and upgrading of the current facilities.

Priority projects include:-
  • A new communal hut; a light and pleasant place in which to make a cup of tea, look at some books, have a meeting or a training session
  • Roof across the current patio to provide a dry open area, especially useful on open days.
  • Improve the main path along the plots; stabilise it and stop it slipping, widen it a bit and create a safer path.
  • Remove and thin some nuisance trees, remove stumps - chippings will be made on site for all to use
  • Reclaim 3 of the 4 "wild plots" so that they can be used
  • Installation of a composting toilet, probably on the site of the "old dump"
  • Its also hoped that there will be funding for raised bed boards, water butts and material to construct greenhouses or another communal greenhouse.

We're also planning to tidy up the area around the store container, create a communal strawberry bed to grow strawberries for jam making, make the old communal container into a secure tool store and to tidy up the communal greenhouse - finish floor slabs & make individual bays.

Thanks to Jim we should have regular deliveries of farmyard manure (if the lorry can get up the icy path!)
